Required skills & experience:
- 5+ years of experience in computer programming is required.
- Experience with RPG or JAVA programming language is required.
- Leadership experience as well as experience and knowledge of the insurance industry are helpful.
- Knowledge of development environments with ability to adapt to different environments.
- Ability to work independently under minimal/no supervision.
- Ability to interface and communicate effectively with personnel at various levels in the organization.
- Possesses good interpersonal skills as well as good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work within established deadlines and changing priorities.
- Demonstrate aptitude and ability in computer programming and the application and knowledge to resolve complex problems.

- Ability to travel for up to one week for training seminars and company business.
Description of duties & responsibilities: The primary purpose of this position is to develop and write computer programs to store, locate, and retrieve specific documents, data, and information. Specific duties include:
- Write, update and maintain computer programs and software packages to handle specific jobs such as insurance administration, data reporting, inventory tracking, data retrieval/storage, and equipment control.
- Modify existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
- Conduct trial runs and unit testing of programs and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct.
- Correct errors by making appropriate changes. Conduct testing as needed.
- Consult with others to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes.
- Perform systems analysis and programming tasks to maintain and control the use of computer systems software as a systems programmer.
- Compile and write documentation of program development and subsequent revisions.
- Assist, Computer Operators or Systems Analysts to define and resolve computer program issues.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge and skill in this field of work through attendance at relevant training programs, conferences, seminars, and/or through self-study.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by management.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field of study is required. Industry recognized certification preferred. LOMA 280/281 and 290/291 strongly preferred.
