Celebrating the Yule at Security Mutual!

Dec 21, 2018Company News

Although stores have been promoting the December holidays since before Halloween, the Yuletide Season didn’t officially begin until Friday, December 21. And on that day at 12 noon, Security Mutual employees enthusiastically welcomed the Yule with an event that has become a Company tradition: gathering on the twin marble staircase in the Company’s lobby to sing festive songs of the season!

The carolers were accompanied by guitar and percussion under the direction of Security Mutual employee and local performer Angela Schwartz.  Together the group serenaded clients, friends, family members and fellow employees with holiday songs ranging from traditional carols to contemporary favorites.

“I doubt that the architects who designed the Security Mutual building back in 1904 were specifically planning that the lobby would be used for singing holiday carols,” chuckled Security Mutual Life Chairman, President and CEO Bruce W. Boyea. “However, I think if they could be here now, they would be as thrilled as I am to hear the lobby ringing with music thanks to the amazing acoustics, to see the beautiful tree filling the entryway, and to see the joy that this event brings to so many people. I hope 100 years from now, this tradition is still going on right here in this lobby.”

Whatever traditions you are enjoying this holiday season, the employees of Security Mutual Life wish you a joyful holiday and a healthy and happy New Year!
